October 10, 2008. The great Proton autumn clearance sale just keeps getting better, this time with £2,500 off a Satria Neo 1.6 GSX until 31st December 2008.
Customers after a cheeky bargain on a new car this autumn can rely on Proton to deliver the ultimate in value for money. At just £7,495 for the manual transmission and £8,295 for the automatic on the road, this three-door supermini has more than just price going for it. Lotus-developed ride and handling give you superb control and the 16 valve Lotus-engineered CamPro engine is tuned for optimum performance. Highline spoiler, 16” alloy wheels and aerodynamic profile promise an exciting drive, whilst a full array of safety features, such as twin airbags and side impact protection bars, ensure driver and passengers are protected.
Inside the car, the Lotus Design Studio is evident in the practical touches that went into this sporty hatchback. The driver’s seat is fully height, slide and tilt adjustable and the steering column is also height adjustable, so you can choose your perfect driving position. There’s room for three people in the back and the rear seats split and fold, extending the boot capacity to 615 litres, plus extra storage in the centre console, front door pockets and glove box. Also as standard are air conditioning with climate control, audio controls on the steering wheel, electric windows and door mirrors and reverse parking sensors. The automatic model also comes with cruise control, unique on a car at this price. And if all this isn’t enough, the Proton Satria Neo also comes with 3 year/60,000 mile total vehicle warranty and 3 years’ free RAC cover.August 30, 2012. AvtoVAZ has recently pulled the wraps off the LAda X-Ray Concept during the 2012 Moscow Motor Show, which is a first look into a crossover that might hit the production line.
The Russian based automaker didn’t lose time and after revealing the El Lada electric vehicle, the company has also pulled the wraps off a very interesting concept, named the Lada X-Ray, which is announcing the future design philosophy of the carmaker. The Lada X-Ray has been designed by Steve Mattin, who is responsible for many Volvo and Mercedes-Benz vehicles and the designer lines are mixing the front bumper with the headlamps in order to give birth to a futuristic look which is revealing the “X” from its name.
According to the car manufacturer, the X-Ray’s lines are representing the future design philosophy of the company and this design is expected to debut sometimes in 2015. The interior of the Lada X-Ray is getting the same lines as the exterior but high quality materials have been used here which, together with the leather upholstery, create a premium car feeling. The futuristic multimedia system hasn’t been left aside either. Honestly we hope that the Lada X-Ray will hit the production line in this shape but, considering the influence of Renault-Nissan into AutoVAZ, this might never happen or, if it does, the model might become something similar to the Dacia Duster.

All in all the production versions of the Agera are created to take the Koenigsegg experience to the next level both on the road and the track, still maintaining the largest luggage space in the industry in combination with the unique Koenigsegg door system and detachable/stow-able hardtop.
There are several differences between the pre-production car previously shown and the production versions. For example, the engine and gearbox configurations are different and some revolutionary interior, chassis and aerodynamic features adorn the production version of the Agera that has never been shown before. For more information, please read the full press release below.
TAKE ACTION
Although sharing the same values and philosophies as previous Koenigsegg models, the Agera takes the Koenigsegg experience to a completely new level.
Similar to all previous Koenigsegg hypercars, the new Agera is the brainchild of Christian von Koenigsegg. The Agera has come to life in order to set new benchmarks for Hypercars when it comes to control, handling, speed, comfort, practicality and sheer driving enjoyment, while combining these features with clean, efficient and beautiful design.
The name Agera set the tone for the new project. Agera means “to take action” in Swedish. It is also short for the ancient Greek word Ageratos which means ”ageless”. These two are very suitable meanings, for the car building the future of Koenigsegg.
THE DESIGN
The Agera is designed with the minimalistic “less is more” philosophy in mind. This philosophy means that the shape of the car has to be purely functional with no added features except those purely needed to meet regulation, added safety, ergonomics, practicality and aerodynamics. We believe that if this philosophy is followed, the car will also be beautiful as it is purely purposeful. A good analogy is the evolution of a dolphin that has had to meet similar criteria in order to reach their present configuration through the evolution of nature.
The Agera is proportionate, compact and muscular. Its timeless, efficient and distinctive shape is truly a testament to time. The original shape and concept of the Koenigsegg CC, created 15 years ago, is still valid, fresh and highly competitive today. The Agera manage to stay true to the original philosophy, shape and size of the original CC. At the same time, it looks, feels and performs like something belonging to the future.
THE ENGINE
Koenigsegg differs from other low volume hypercar manufacturers by the fact that Koenigsegg develops and produces its own engine in-house. This is, by most observers and competitors, deemed as more or less impossible or way too expensive to even consider.
However, year after year Koenigsegg has proved them wrong. Not only are the engines developed in-house, they also have class leading characteristics in many important areas. To mention a few: Lightest and most compact hypercar engine in the world, weighing only 197 kg complete with flywheel, clutch, dry sump system, Inconel exhaust manifold with turbo. The low engine weight is quite astonishing, as the Agera engine also has class leading power and torque characteristics. To give an example, the Koenigsegg 5 litre V8 bi-turbo engine develops more than 900 hp on 95 octane regular fuel, and more than 1100 hp on E85 bio fuel. The Agera produces over 1000 Nm of torque from 2500 rpm and in the Agera R format the engine has a peak torque of 1200 Nm over a 3300 rpm rev range, showing great flexibility.
These are extraordinary numbers considering the size and reliability of the engine without forsaking drivability or flexibility. This is truly downsizing, without drawbacks. These characteristics make it one of the most flexible and easy to use hypercar engines in the world.
To give a hint of how different the Agera engines are compared to other production car engines, it is easy to look at the BMEP value (Brake Mean Effective Pressure) in the cylinders during maximum power output. The best production diesel and petrol engines from other leading manufacturers have a maximum BMEP of around 22 bar.
The Agera engine has a BMEP of 28 bar running on 95 octane fuel and the E85 Bio fuel Agera R engines has an astonishing BMEP of 30 bar. These numbers show how extreme the Koenigsegg engines are compared to any other production engine in the world. The reason why Koenigsegg can obtain such BMEP figures is due to some proprietary and critical factors, such as:
− A unique shape of the combustion chambers, improving the resistance against detonation.
− High cylinder head clamp load, enabled by a specially designed engine block. This has proven to give a zero failure rate to combustion overpressure, even considering the extreme cylinder pressures.
− A unique engine block design, where the cylinder sleeves are used to further stiffen the aluminium block.

Tap and hold the wallpaper you want to use until a pop-up menu appears, choose Save Image and it will automatically save to your "Photos" app. Go back to the initial (main) app screen of your device and choose "Photos" icon.
Choose the wallpaper image you just saved, then tap the button (a square with an arrow in it - left bottom button on iPod and iPhone, top right button on iPad) and select Use as Wallpaper.
Size the background wallpaper by manipulating it back and forth within the touch screen until you get the desired shape and size.
Then choose Set as Wallpaper to create your wallpaper (on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4 you can set the wallpaper for lock screen, home screen or both).Wallpaper is the enigmatic onstage existence of Oakland music addict Eric Frederic. In another life, he fronts a prog-rock powerhouse (indie stalwarts Facing New York), but in this one, he's a pop-pushing kingpin as interested in art as artifice. The Wallpaper project began in early 2005 as tweaked satire, Frederic funneling his earliest influences (P-Funk, New Jack, East Bay rap) into two EPs of diced, digital beats and lyrics caricaturing the pop vernacular. But as the Hyphy hip-hop movement crested in Frederic's backyard, something changed. "I saw that classic Bay Area sound resurfacing," he says, "that same psychedelic, drippy, care-free, funky approach that reigned from Sly Stone to Digital Underground." He needed to pay tribute, and in a hail of house parties and homemade discs, Wallpaper was reborn as Ricky Reed, Frederic's disco-smashing doppelganger. This glitz 'n' grit champion of the groove has since become a gilded name in the underground, wooing crowds with a computerized croon, live reinventions of R&B classics, and tales of excess in the Information Age. Live, Wallpaper is joined by Arjun Singh on drums. They have blown spots alongside such notables as Subtle, Darondo, LA Riots, Electric Soft Parade,
 and Nino Moschella.

July 28, 2008. Award-winning Spanish automotive design and technology company IFR Automotive has revealed a wealth of weight, fuel and CO2 saving technical innovations running throughout the chassis, suspension, brakes and electrical systems of its new Aspid luxury sportscar making its world debut at the British International Motor Show.
The Aspid’s 700kg kerb weight is minimal by any standard and less than half the weight of a typical premium sportscar. With 400bhp available from its 2-litre supercharged engine the virtually unmatched power-to-weight ratio gives awesome acceleration with the car reaching 62mph in 2.8 seconds and 100mph in 5.9 seconds.
The Aspid is also very compact - with a wheelbase smaller than a city car - and cleverly packaged to accommodate even the tallest driver and passenger. Despite its size, the fully enclosed two-seater is comprehensively equipped and as far removed from being a ‘stripped down to the bare essentials’ track-day special that you could possibly imagine, which its performance figures would also suggest. It is first and foremost a premium sportscar designed for the road.
“The whole point of the Aspid is that it is small and lightning fast, just like its namesake,” says company founder Ignacio Fernández Rodriquez. “But we also believe it’s the first genuine attempt at producing an unusually compact luxury sportscar, not just with impeccable road holding and handling, but also with the highest possible quality for a car of its size.”
“Our market research confirms the importance of a supercar having strong emotional appeal. But it also has to be totally unique. Combine these two factors with the need for robust environmental credentials and the result is what we’ve endeavoured to achieve with the Aspid.”
Looking at the bigger picture, Fernández believes all the technical innovations the company has developed for the Aspid could be applied to a wide range of vehicles including mass produced cars, thereby making a relevant contribution to sustainable personal mobility.
Underpinning its massive weight saving is an ultra-lightweight aluminium extrusion composite panelled chassis with a mass of just 75kg. The new and innovative construction method offers up to ten times the torsional stiffness of a conventional un-panelled space-frame and enhanced crash protection.
Similarly, the car’s major innovation in its suspension is an ultra-lightweight aluminium extrusion, developed for the double wishbone system, with a special profile that provides immense stiffness and rigidity in all directions and minimises stresses under torsional, longitudinal and vertical bending loads.
The Aspid also introduces an ultra-lightweight stainless steel brake system comprised of thin twin discs each with turbine-shaped slots for maximum air cooling and braking efficiency. The design results in a low un-sprung mass and rotational inertia and a weight saving of more than 70 per cent compared with normal brake systems.
IFR’s expertise in vehicle dynamics has allowed the company to extract the maximum benefit from all this weight reduction, to provide the driver with massively enhanced feedback through the steering wheel, sublime handling and a superb grip of the road at all times thanks to the excellent balance it has achieved by using lightweight structures throughout the car.
The impressive weight saving, however, doesn’t end there. Aspid features an all-new and fully-integrated electronic and electrical system developed for the whole car. The company has reduced the usual complexity of these systems by eliminating countless components, assemblies and microprocessors.
The result is a significant reduction in the weight of electrical systems and harnessing to around one-third that of current layouts with a comparable reduction in the number of microprocessors to about one for every four that would typically be specified in a modern car. IFR has achieved this without compromising the myriad tasks that need to be performed. In fact, the opposite is true and the level of functionality has actually increased.
The most noticeable change for the driver is the elimination of traditional instrumentation replaced by one or more interactive touch screens. These allow the driver to change many parameters such as the rev limit, valve timing, power output, steering assistance, ABS, noise valve, brake balance, ride height, traction and stability controls, as well as influencing the pitch, roll and yaw of the car by adjusting its damping characteristics.
For motorsport enthusiasts the system offers an in-built and extendable data logging capability, readily configured for all OBD (onboard diagnostics) and CAN (control area network) sensors with 24 analogue channels available and upwards. For the road this is complemented by GPS satellite navigation, GPRS/GSM mobile communications, motion sensing accelerometers, Wi Fi wireless technology, Ethernet interface connections, as well as touch screens for both driver and co-driver.
The system can help reconfigure the car to suit different drivers and different driving conditions and can ensure the Aspid is set-up correctly for the road or track. It can even direct the driver through a series of tests and operations that will enable it to calculate engine torque and power.
